An Alternative Comfort Night-light Using A 'glow Stick' When Camping With Kids

I was planning for our familys summer camping holiday this morning and wondering what to do about our youngest son and his fear of the dark. We have to leave the landing light on all night and his bedroom door ajar at present, before hell go to sleep. This would be his first experience of camping out in a tent and I was thinking of a way to deal to provide a night-light in his compartment of our family tent that would be safe and that would also last throughout the night in case he woke up. I didnt want to have to buy an expensive battery-operated night-light nor a camping lantern; that would probably need more than one set of batteries over the course of our holiday; so was thinking of what I could use as an alternative.

A friend popped in for a morning coffee and I was telling her about my problem and what I could do when she suggested using glow sticks. She had recently been to a music festival and had taken several different coloured glow sticks with her. She said they turned out to be quite handy in several ways. They are really simple to use and the 6 light stick comes with a hook and length of cord, which enabled you to hang it anywhere around your campsite where you needed a useful light source. Glow Sticks are an affordable as well as environmentally safe alternative to using battery-powered torches.

She had used them marking out her tents guy ropes at night to stop people tripping over them and possibly falling on her tent; they had helped by making their campsite standout in a field of tents because shed dangled various different coloured glow sticks about their camping area and she had also used one every night inside a tent as an ambient light. By simply hanging from one of the roof poles to provided her with adequate lighting inside her tent all night long which would be an ideal solution to my problem.

She reckoned my kids will love having to snap the bubble inside and then shaking them to make it glow it would be like magic in their hands and I would probably have great pleasure in watching their faces light up as the glow gets brighter. And as they come in a rainbow of colours, he could get to choose a different colour every night which would make it fun for him too. A simple and safe way of providing a night-light for my son by using a glow stick during our familys camping holiday. bubble soccer
